Our History

Our History

Serving the Oakville, ON community since 1969.

Merv Collings and a partner named Jack Moed started the business on March 1, 1969. Eastside Auto Service started out as a two bay service facility, but grew to its current seven bay facility as business grew over the years.

Merv’s son Glenn came on board in 1992 after University with a Bachelors degree in automotive aftermarket management/marketing. This has served the company well as Glenn knew what it took to keep the business competitive, as well as grow the bottom line.

Over the years Eastside Auto Service has built a reputation for excellent customer and vehicle service, by staying on the cutting edge for offering valued added services to our customers. We have always believed that it is our responsibility to tell our customers everything that we identify as required repairs and maintenance on their vehicles, and have built a trust with our customers by doing so. Time and time again we hear our customers say that their “other shop” never told them what their vehicle really needed to maintain its safety and reliability.

Merv Colling

Founder, Eastside Auto Service

What a journey it has been over the last 40 years! I can tell you that I have seen a lot of changes in the automotive industry, but all of those changes have been very exciting. I have had the fortune of being able to work with some of the best professionals in this industry over that time, and that continues to be the case today.

We would never be where we are today without the dedication and skill level of our complete staff. I often think of the many staff members that have come through our door over the years, and where they are today. Many have gone on to own their own businesses, and we feel fortunate to have been able to be part of their personal success stories.

I am very proud of the fact that my son Glenn has been able to continue moving the company forward and expanding its service offerings over time. His personal dedication to our staff and customers is inspiring, and I continue to enjoy going to the shop to help out in the mornings. I’ll see you there!
